they are soft bodied, and calcium powders and such stick to them much better than to worms or bugs. I use these for my females around laying time, to help boost them up, and I also use them for reluctant feeders. I had one that an adult wouldn't eat, that I gave to the hatchlings rather than throw away. Now that was pretty crazy. 4 hatchlings had hold of it and were ripping it in different directions. They didn't leave a scrap behind.
oh yeah, and NONONONONONONONO live ones. man, I can't stress that enough, as you may know if you've seen (HEARD) it. Holy cow. Snakes feeding on live ones seems merciful by comparison. My wife had to leave the house and wait out front just about crying while I stared at it in kind of sickenedness. *shiver*
Frozen ones are super, though.
