he could have a large sharp urate crystal that has cut or irritated his cloaca or possibly a sharp twig or some other foreign object. The fact that the blood is bright red means the problem is close to the opening and has not been exposed to much of the G.I. tract or you wood see tar colored stools. Your vet will probably shoot a radiograph to rule out something like the above. goodluck!
