Thanks for the advice, I was thinking it might get a little out of hand for me. The other question I forgot to ask is how quickly they actually grow. He wanted to avoid totally getting rid of the tortoise if possible, as he'll be able to take it back in about two years. (He'll be working on an out of state, travelling contract in the mean time, which is why it's out of the question for him to care for it now.) Is it reasonalbe to assume I might be able to handle care for it for two years (at which point the tortoise will be three years old)? My backyard's pretty large, so we could accomodate building or purchasing a large structure, if necessary. I'm willing to whatever I can, as my friend ia already rather attatched to his "baby".

If not, alternate suggestions on finding a caring home for the tortoise would be appreciated.
