If they have been out of hibernation for only about a week now how soon would she lay? Wouldn't it take her a few weeks to develope eggs? Did your female except the breeding or did she keep trying to get away. She turns around and rams him but he just keeps trying. Thanks for suggestion of nest box. I will work on one tonight.

: I think you should be prepared for your female to lay eggs sometime soon. I observed my male try in vain to mate with a particular female several times. She laid 3 eggs a few days ago.

: If your female can't lay, she could become egg-bound and die. To be safe you may want to prepare a tub with about 6"-8" of sand/soil mix and put her in it if she acts hyper, etc.
