I would still try and get a day time basking spot of around 86 degrees!
But either way Kathy be persistent, and please try the yellow squash, mixed in with other favorite greens. It was the squash that really got my sick little sulcata eating.
Remember too that the baytril can cause the tort to become dehydrated, so keep up those soakings.
I know when my sulcatas were on Baytril, they would sleep for hours after the shots. Both the little baby and the then 40lb sulcata.
The shots were given every other day, the tortoises were up and about on the days they didn't recieve the shots. They crashed all day, on the days they got shots.Slept the day away and didn't want to eat.
I don't know if that's typical or not, just my experience.
I would never try to second guess a vet. But it might be worth seeing if your tort can be changed to a shot every other day.
That might give him a day between shots to recover.
Your vet might have him on a tiny dose of Baytril every day, instead of a larger dose every other day. Maybe that's the way to go with such a small tortoise.
Although I suspect he doesn't have too many more shots to go now, does he?
Is he active at all, or only after the soaks?
Please keep us updated
