In the wild tortoises spend the hot and dry times tucked away in a nice cool humid burrow. They come out in favorable weather to eat, then return to hiding. In captivity tortoises are forced into a continuous hot and dry climate, most are also not allowed to burrow. There goes there natural coping mechanism. I soak all of mine once a week during cooler weather and twice a week during warmer weather. Do you feed her the pellets dry? If so that will also dehydrate her. Once she makes a full recovery, try to switch her diet over to a greens and grasses diet.
