I recently read a posting on this (or some other bulletin board) about giving my little guys crushed oyster shell as a good no-phosphorous calcium supplement. I went to the local feed store and got a 50 pound bag. Much of the oystershell is in small pieces (1/8" - 3/4") pieces.
How do I administer this? When I give this to the kids - do I need to grind it to a powder first or just leave it as pieces for them to chew and sharpen their beak on? Do I sprinkle it on their food or put it in a bowl for them to eat separately?
I don't want to give them something that might injure their digestive tract.
Suggestions?
