Hi there,
I'm contemplating getting a tortoise... I currently have a Red Eared Slider, so I can appreciate the need to do my research before hand and find out EVERYTHING this pet would need. Before I start reading up on every tortoise out there, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some feedback from their experiences with different species.
I live in an apartment right now, and won't be buying a house in the foreseeable future (unless my life plans go awry), so I wouldn't want a species that required vast gardens. I would be able to 'walk' it at the park a couple of times a week with my RES during the warm months (I live in Vancouver), but other than that it would have to be inside. So I suppose he'd have to live in an enclosure, in order that he could have all the right temps, lighting, etc. But please, correct me if I'm wrong!
If you could let me know if you have experience with any such species, as well as the set up they require, food they eat, and how long they live I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out if there is a tortoise out there who I'd be able to look after completely properly. TIA! :)
