: The stripe I used is the chartreuse and silver type from a reflective traffic-safety vest. You know the kind you see people wearing when they flag traffic around construction or accidents. It's about 20" long and attached with a square of silver duct tape. You can buy rolls of this type at Home Depot or similar stores. It works well, even when he got out, it stayed with him as he traversed about 400' of woods (that's straight line distance, who knows how he actually wandered to that point.) And finding the stripe at the point he finally freed himself of it is the thing that led me to narrow my search to the area where I ultimately found him.
All in all, it's a good system, that I put too much faith in.
