Suggestions for a good tortoise to buy

I have been keeping water turtles for a while now and am interested in getting one or two tortoises. I need some suggestions on what type of tortoise would be a good one to get. I live in an apartment right now (hope to be in a house within a year) and am looking for something that will stay fairly small (8-12" tops) and will do well in an indoor setting (atleast til I get the house!). I have David Kirkpatrick's "turtle table" plans and will probably build something like it to keep the tortoise in. I am also looking for a few suggestions for reputable reptile farms in the Orlando area. I will be there around the first of the year and had hoped to pick the tortoises up while I'm down there. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
