: I would say a good choice would be a Redfoot. They do get bigger than 8" but there is also a dwarf variety of Redfoot that stays small. They do well in high humidity environments and do well housed indoors. They also have great personality and are attractive as well. Tortoises do not need to be housed in pairs, they do very well (and even like) to be housed alone. The link below is for the Abbott's Farm, Central Florida Reptile Farm. They are one of the best for tortoises and are very reputable and knowledgeable. Their animals are CB and they also ship, but are near Orlando so that would be good for you I guess. I highly reccomend Russian tortoises. Many will tell you they dont do well in high humidity, but, mine do great in South Carolina. They do very well indoors but need some room. Most you find are about 4" but I had a female reach 9.5 inches. Redfoots are great too! they like the humidity and have wonderful personalities. They do get big. Hope this helps!
