Sound like the winter thing here in NC, so this
is what I do: Even in cooler temps, it's can get
hot in the sun, make sure they have access to
cover regardless. Also, I limit the time outside
in these temps to 15-20 minutes and I'm with him
outdoors, feeling the ground (should be warm to
your hand from the sunshine) and NOT any wind going.
We make these little trips outdoors 2-3 times
a day (I know, I have a miserably easy job that
allows this ludicrous lifestyle - LOL!) rather
than one long one. Keep the indoor basking lights
on so they're nice and warm/hot when he comes in,
put him in a cool sectin of the cage and if he
wants (probably) he'll go over to bask then.
Mine would do exactly that, and then come up
to the front requesting to go outside again, driving
me insane! HA!
I think we're going to try to build an outdoor
house with heat so he can do that himself, but
monitor him also.
