Here's a little note. Speedy, my test sulcata who I keep at 80 to 100+ F has a cold.(runny nose, wheezing, the whole bit.) All it takes is one chill.

: Agree with EJ, they're going to do better at much
: warmer basking temps than most snakes.
: Since one has a runny nose, I would seperate them
: though, this will also allow you monitor eating which
: is crucial if one seems ill.
: Also Sulcatas need much more room than any snake
: will ever require (to include Retics etc...) as
: they are roaming grazing animals. Give them as
: much room as you can at each point of their lives.
: They also absolutely must have UV (again, different
: than snakes), I use Active UV Heat bulbs which
: put out much more UV than strip lights. Supplement
: with Calcium/Vitamins if you want and give them
: some cuttlebone (the kind birds get) in their
: enclosure and scrape a bit onto their food.
: Also the "ambient" temp you gave is too high for
: the lowest temperature they might desire. My
: cage has a section that is room temp or 70 degrees.
:
: Sulcatas do not have slow periods like snakes or
: geckos or other reptiles. Some tortoises hibernate
: and have slow periods obviously, but not this type.
