Wow Nikki!
About the only tortoises, turtles I have are the living ones outdoors!
Although my husband did give me a gold tortoise pendant for my birthday ( today).
Our house is filled with Packer stuff though as my husband's a huge fan,a few tortoise things here and there and a lovely ceramic green sea turtle that looks like it's swimming across the wall. But that's it!
Nikki you'd go mad shopping in Hawaii there's so many lovely green sea turtle things.
I'm getting a hatchling sulcata tomorrow, my first little one, I started off with sub adults.
This little tort is sick though, it's owner who has been trying for months to get it back in good health is giving it to me.
It can be really draining both emotionally and financialy to get a sick tort back on it's feet, so I can't blame him for wanting a break.
So I'll be taking over little Hoku's care, wish me luck.
His previous owner has done everything he possibly can to help Hoku, but the little tort keeps relapsing.
So there's no guarantee that Hoku will make it, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Hoku has Pasturella testudinis, he's lethargic, anorexic and his nares and throat get blocked with clear , thick mucous.
He has been recieving antibiotic shots (amikacin), improving then relapsing.
I'll be taking him to my vet on Sunday and maybe changing the antibiotic, possibly to Baytril.
This little tort is only 57 grams.
If anyone has any experience giving Baytril to such a small tortoise I'd like to hear about it.
How the tortoise responded to Baytril etc.
Terry.
