: Wow Nikki!
: About the only tortoises, turtles I have are the living ones outdoors!
: Although my husband did give me a gold tortoise pendant for my birthday ( today).
: Our house is filled with Packer stuff though as my husband's a huge fan,a few tortoise things here and there and a lovely ceramic green sea turtle that looks like it's swimming across the wall. But that's it!
: Nikki you'd go mad shopping in Hawaii there's so many lovely green sea turtle things.
: I'm getting a hatchling sulcata tomorrow, my first little one, I started off with sub adults.
: This little tort is sick though, it's owner who has been trying for months to get it back in good health is giving it to me.
: It can be really draining both emotionally and financialy to get a sick tort back on it's feet, so I can't blame him for wanting a break.
: So I'll be taking over little Hoku's care, wish me luck.
: His previous owner has done everything he possibly can to help Hoku, but the little tort keeps relapsing.
: So there's no guarantee that Hoku will make it, but I'm willing to give it a try.
: Hoku has Pasturella testudinis, he's lethargic, anorexic and his nares and throat get blocked with clear , thick mucous.
: He has been recieving antibiotic shots (amikacin), improving then relapsing.
: I'll be taking him to my vet on Sunday and maybe changing the antibiotic, possibly to Baytril.
: This little tort is only 57 grams.
: If anyone has any experience giving Baytril to such a small tortoise I'd like to hear about it.
: How the tortoise responded to Baytril etc.
: Terry.
