Regarding the Importation of sulcatas the EEC banned the import of "wild caught" time ago, now Cites kept it in the appendix II but with a export quote of 0 from Africa.
That was a good decision, much better that put in in the appendix I.
Here is a pic of some of my pardalis, the type of volcanic dirt must be quite similar to those from Hawaii.
I know that sometimes sulcatas are going in wholesale for $15, it is the rule, soon in Europe other tortoises, like radiata soon could become cheaper. (not so cheaper of course) But this is for me a good notice, it minds that captive reproduction works. Unfortunately many others like Pyxis, Pancake are not so prolific.
