: Recently I adopted a Bell's Hingeback tortoise. His fecals are surprisingly clear and at first he responded well to greens, carrots, and occasional moist cat food and was quite active. This past month, however, his activity level has dropped to almost nil. He eats if put in front of his food, and he drinks and sometimes defecates when put in his soaking tub, but otherwise he's a statue. I keep him in a 36" aquarium with basking light, UV fluorescents, a heating pad, and plexiglass panels covering most of the top to increase humidity. Any ideas?
I would say you should feed him a little differenceI would suggest meal worms.some fruits and some darker greens.I would say feed him zero cat food and go easy on the carrots peas are one of our bells favorites.I have two bell hinges and one forrest so we are getting really good at these they are great torts!!!!!
