Tortoise and turtle enthusiasts (most of this forum) like to have daily or every 2-days interaction/contact with their chelonians. Tortoises are fairly easy to care for if certain conditions are met at the start. It sounds like you may be too busy for the regular (daily) but not overly long attention these gentle creatures need and deserve. At a minimum, an adult tortoise needs to be fed at least every 3 days, preferably every 2, babies need daily feeding due to more rapid initial growth. If you decide a tortoise is for you, a 4"-6" Hermann's makes a good first tortoise and you can then get further care info here in the forum. Good luck, whatever your decision.
