Is there any way to house your russian outside? It sounds as if you've got a great environment for it. Just remember that russians are great escape artists! You can build a little house, or buy a dog house (like a Dogloo). In the colder months you should offer a basking light positioned over a flat rock outside the dog house so they can warm up after they wake up. And a pig warming blanket inside the dog house. If the temp gets below 40 you will need to bring him in. Russians love to burrow, so a pile of hay (or timothy hay) works really good.
