Laura,
on the tort lists, mulberry is often mentioned as a good food for torts.
My sulcatas love the leaves,I've had no problems with it at all. Many tort keepers feed mulberry leaves, mine eat both the young and old leaves, they strip them off the branches.
The mulberry tree I have produces dark red fruit which I feed to the box turtles.
