hibiscus grows pretty big. I have 8 bushes planted 3' apart that have grown into a 5' high hedge!
Other single bushes around my yard are up to 8' tall.

You could maybe plant it in a large pot, that would be a better idea, it would soon outgrow a window box. As it grows trim back the branches or you'll end up with a tall thin plant. If you trim the branches back when they get about 1'- one and a half foot long, you'll get a much thicker/bushier plant.
You can keep it trimed back as much as you want,, but a smaller bush won't produce as many flowers. So aim for a nice bushy 4' - 5' .
It's well worth planting a couple in pots if you have the room.
They are attractive plants and the torts just love the flowers and leaves.
