Someone that is thinking. I agree with you as I am one of those dealers that shipped to USA some spider tortoises.(I do not live in Madagascar) All were perfect condition and eating well. Not all exporters in Madagascar are cleaning out the country just to make money. These exports were also used to finance breeding projects in Madagascar. Half of the animals from my supplier were exported to me and the rest of his quota landed up in his breeding farm to be able to supply captive bred babies in future. Maybe some Madagascan breeders sold their breeding stock when the exports started, but some only started now in breeding them. So by buying these tortoises in your country you are helping a breeding project in Madagascar. If they were not able to sell some to cover costs, they would not have started a breeding farm as they could not afford it.
