Sometimes the initial lung consolidation and airway constricion from pneumonia doesn't resolve for a number of weeks, causing the wheezing sound, even after the infection has cleared up. Is there still a nasal discharge or is the nose dry? A second and more sinister possibility is that the tortoise has mycoplasma pneumonia (see the web sites on desert tortoise problems with this disease) that requires a drug from the macrolide family of antibiotics, such as erythromycin or tylosin.
