Andrew,
I just bought 2 wild caught Russians, I bought the first one because I felt sorry for him in the dirty pet store.
Then I thought if they're wild caught the best I can do is get another and breed them.
I found a female and now have two totaly adorable Russian torts.
These sad looking torts in the pet store are now outside streatched flat out on the grass soaking up rays. Eating grass and hibiscus and taking food ( the female) from my hand!
WC always come with concerns, I took both to the vet within 2 days of purchasing them. The male was infested with pin worms, his stools were a mess.
10 days later he's a totaly different tortoise.Nice firm healthy stools.
The female was in great shape, and is just a sweetheart.
You must follow your heart not do what others want you to. If you got a pair to breed , now or in the future, that would be great and would help
out the Russian torts that are still in the wild.
The more captive bred, the better.
Let us know what you decide they are very nice little tortoises.
Terry.
