Hi.
When you feed your tortoise mix in freshly cut grass.
Just get a pair of scissors go out and cut some grass, then snip it into 1/2 inch pieces, or a bit smaller. Mix it in with the leafy greens.
There are many natural foods you can feed not just grass.
Hibiscus flowers and leaves a favorite, mulberry leaves, grape leaves, dandelion, opuntia cactus.
I recommend planting some of these in your yard out of the tortoise area.
Then you can just pick them and add it to the diet.
Don't just stick to Romaine there are many other leafy greens you can add. Endive, escarole, mustard, watercress, red and green leaf lettuce etc.
Another idea, if you put your tortoise out everyday don't feed it till you bring it back in.
A hungry tortoise is much more likely to graze, than one with a belly full of greens!!
Anyway by adding the grasses and even chopped or ground Timothy hay in with the greens your tort will be getting the fiber it needs and the stools wil firm up.
I'm not sure what sprouts you're feeding, hope they're not Brussel Sprouts?!!
If you haven't already also take the tortoise to a vet and have it checked for internal parasites.
Also are you soaking the tortoise?
If so I wouldn't at that size more than once or twice a week, as long as it also has drinking water always available.
Hope this helps, check out the link below for loads of sulcata info.
Terry.
