I don't have any hinge backs,( I would love too, but don't have room for more enclosures) but I do keep two species of box turtle, C.galbinifrons and 3 toeds.
They love their leaf piles, I just add leaves when I rake, the three toeds spend most of the time in these huge piles of leaves, so maybe hingebacks will enjoy it too.
