Hot zone should be about 85-86F, but the actual basking spot can be a bit hotter...although if you are housing in a glass tank it is dangerous to make it too hot. You mentioned a cage or pen though..if you have adequate airflow and air movement in the cage or pen, a basking spot can be 90-95F with the surrounding hot zone a bit cooler...nighttime should be about 72F...
