If your tortoise is wild caught the most likely, hidden problem, is internal parasites. You might try calling a Vet and asking if you can just bring in a fresh sample for examination. That way you should only have to pay for the fecal exam and skip bringing in the tortoise unless it tests positive. Normal urine is usually a mixture of almost clear liquid with a white gel like substance (urates)kind of laced throughout it. From my experience it seems that females drink more than males. I have some females that take a drink almost every other day and I have males that usually go for about two to three weeks without drinking but at some point while you are soaking your tortoise you should notice it puting it's face into the water and the movement of the neck muscles from swallowing. Russians can be pretty voracious and over feeding is possible. The most likely result is too rapid of growth which some people are beginning to believe may contribute to irregular shell growth. Most important is that you are feeding the proper diet.
