: You are right, I am sorry. I hate it when I see people giving newbies a hard time. I do not want to do that myself!
: I am still pissed off about the twitching tegu post. You have no idea how many emails I respond to everyday. There is no good information about tegus and because they have dropped in price so much they are being sold the ANYONE. People email me and ask if I will give them $50 and pay the shiping for them to mail me a half-dead tegu. They drive them into the ground and then want to dump them off. I am really tired of it. The breeders don't care how many are over-produced. The importers don't care, the pet store owners don't care. If the people who buy them don't care then what?
: Again, I am sorry for taking it out on you.

Jeff,

This is something that I have been feeling for years. I have been to reptile shows and seen baby tegus in ten gallon tanks twitching like crazy. I knew why. I tested the guy who was selling them to see if he would tell me why, and he made up some BS story that was just ridiculous. Unfortunately, it does not end with just tegus. I see this ALL of the time. At the Jacksonville show last year, I pointed out two beautiful borneo bloods that were dead on this guys table. I was disgusted. This is one of the reasons that I hate doing shows. I would hate to be a beginner herpeculturist and be stigmatized as one of these type of people who sell dead animals(literally). You are right there is not much info on tegus out there. I think the reason for that is because WHO KNOWS. I have been keeping tegus since 93 and I still don't know. All of the things that I have learned have been through trial and era, including dealing with the people who buy reptiles. You have a small percentage of people who buy animals, and they keep them for the duration of the reptiles life. Others will buy, sell, buy, sell, and unfortunately you have people who are going to buy a reptile because it is "cool" or whatever, not take care of it, and this leads to the emails you get, I get them as well. It is very frustrating, I know.

Aaron
