There were too many to list 'standard list of common names' from that source.
A standard list would be good IF one standard was adopted. The more that get their hands into it the more the field becomes watered down and the less likely it will be adopted.
I just think the energy would be better served in trying to adopt a universaly accepted standard for specific nomenclature. When that is tackled THEN work on a standardization for common names.
It just seems a little arrogant to try and standardize a common name.
An example of what I'm trying to get across. You're field collecting in the backwoods of Mississippi and you ask the locals... They responde... You say, no, that's not the accepted common name as proposed by... You can see the conversation would go down hill from there. But I think you get the idea of my point.
