Hi Lee, the meetings are the 4th Thursday of the Month, at the Otto Center at the San Diego Zoo. That and other info should be on our home page, here at Ksnake.com in the Herp Societies section.
Welcome to the area and try to make a meeting. I think it's ok to "observe" the lizard for now.
