The sport is so fascinating. I have gone hawking with another person I volunteer with, she has a female Merlin, and it is absolutely awesome to see those birds fly. We had a falconry demo, with a merlin and an immature gyr, gyrs are absolutely amazing, and FAST!!!

: Yes with respect to being an active falconer as is at least one other herper on this forum (or use to be) that contacted me a couple of years ago. There is also someone that signs off as Kestrel.
: In the late 1950's and early 1960's I reared several gyrs then became inactive when my last two falcons where shot, a Gyr I had for 3 years and a Prairie that I only had a short time. Was inactive for about 19 years then took it up again in the late 1980's when my youngest son became an active falconer.

:Right now, we have 27 birds, including eagles, owls, hawks, and a peregrine/gyr hybrid... I take it you are into falconry?
