In Reply to: I a few at the NYshow for $35, imports? (please read) posted by jack7777766 on April 24, 2003 at 11:29:04:

:I was much happier buying the one I did which looked allot better for $85, than getting those for $35.
:I guess it really varies. I hope these werent imports and that people arent still importing these guys, I think by now there are plenty in captivity and seeing such a beautifull animals disapear from their habitat due to importation would really be a shame.
:Does anyone know about how much importation is currently going on with these guys??

:Jack

They are NOT imported in any way and never have been imported as New Caledonia has and is always closed.
All specimens we have now are bred from the first few animals that were brought to Europe and America by people like de vosjoli, Henkel etc.
Remember that these animals have been rediscovered only in 1994 !!!

There situation isn't improving in there homeground , that's because the FIREANT has reached New Caledonia as well and is killing everything in it's path.

Allready we must fear that some of the island varieties of RAC.LAECH.HENKELI are extinct.
