agree with wendy, feeder fish should NOT form a staple part of the turtles diet...but they are great as an occcassional treat!

for a 4" inch turtle ..feeding should anyhow be an alternate day schedule...so maintain that.

we personally recom guppies (musquito fish)..they are cheap...and lean (low fat!) compared to other fishes.

we also keep our fishes seperate for a week, using that time to treat them with the basic preventive fish medicines...as we dont want to introduce any foriegn parasites into the tank..

other interesting feed for turtles is musquitos, cockroaches, worms..etc..

as far as size goes...fish (and anything else you give) should noy be more than 2 times the head size if its alive!
(it just makes it diff for the turt to eat!..though the 'greedy guys' would manage somehow!! )
