you could count the subcaudal scales below the vent. Males should have a higher count then females. The ventral scale count is more species than sex related, but subcaudals should be sexually related within species. However, my understanding is that probing is more definitive than any scale counts, tail shape comparisons, etc.. If both are probing same sex, odds are they are.
: there should be an obvious dimorphism. The tail shapes of two similarly sized adults should be noticeably different. If they aren't, you probably have two of the same sex.
: Get someone to help you hold them still and look at the tails side by side. The males tail will be longer and will taper more gradually.
