As to photography- I find that my digital camera can't choose between color ranges, so you have to experiment with background colors and lighting to see what your camera works best with. I usually get best results with a varied-color background. maybe thats why a lot of breeders use natural BGs with the snake on the ground or in a tree.
Trying to get the tiny colors out of a grey snake is challenging.The intricate bright colors usually look brown on my camera.
The best hint is to try lots of ways.
