for one, a corn snake is a rat snake...they're all Elaphe, just different species. Generally a Bubblegum rat is a 3 way cross between a yellow rat, black rat, and everglades rat...sometimes just a 2 way cross. Baby ratsnakes (and corns) can be a bit pissy as children. I have an extremely calm yearling and a nippish 6 month old that is getting better with handling. When you go to pick the snake up, have your hand flat and palm down, covering her head with your hand...she will realize that you aren't food and that she doesn't have an easy place to latch onto you. Just be patient and work with her a bit at a time. She doesn't require anything special other than some time to get used to you.
check out Kathy Love's site...she has some good pics of bubblegum rats
