great first snake!...my daughter wuz 3 when we started keepin snakes...their eyesight is alright; they are more sniffers and tasters hehe...he'll know your taste, then smell I'd imagine...bite doesn't hurt (at all, serious)...let him chew on ya a bit, he'll realize biting won't make you go away...kittens, puppies and even hamsters bite much, much harder than any corn does...pinkies can be too big; no prob that he ate only one...easy snake to start with, Laurel; u'll end up more into him than your son...peace...chris
