Travis,

A couple of tips. Try to get more of the snake in the photo (unless there is some reason to focus on one particular spot). I think the author wants to show geo. variation and getting more snake in shows more detail.

Also, consider trying to get your photo from around a 30° from the snake. Somehow, pictures from these angles are more pleasing to the eye generally.

Here are a couple of shots of Grimes Co., TX corns. (The second one is a DOR)
