In Reply to: eastern fox snake care posted by Tracy on January 18, 2002 at 14:29:40:
: I work at a veterinary clinic and we have adopted an eastern fox snake. I've recently become a herp addict and I'm taking over his care, but in order to do this, I need some guidelines to go by. He's currently eating a mouse once a week and has a great appetite. He's had no trouble shedding without assistance and seems pretty healthy overall, but I want to make sure we're keeping the temps in his tank at appropriate levels, etc. Any help that anyone can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Tracy, sounds like you doing well if it's still eating. How big is it?
Usually w/c specimens won't do well, because they want to hibernate for the winter. I'd say cage temps are from 68-82*F, normally, when snakes are active. In winter I usually keep mine steady at about 70-75*F, when active. You might want to have a hot spot too, although IMO it isn't needed very often. Terry.
