If you cross from Arizona into California in the south you're in the Imperial Valley. This is the northern range limit of the baja rat snake. Mexico prohibits collecting this species without special permits, but if you have a California Fishing Liscense, you can collect them in California. I'm pro-captive bred, but there are instances were w/c is a way to establish new bloodlines. BTW - my friend Adam Block (where my E. bairdi come from) lives in Tucson.
