Why is my Taiwan so shy?....

My Taiwan Beauty is turning into a lovely snake. She is getting used to her handling sessions, and aside from puffing her throat, she does not show any aggresion whatsoever towards me once out of her cage. In her cage, she is very shy. While she may come out to explore once I am gone or asleep, at the slightest hint of my presence, she scoots back to her rock as fast as her scales will take her. What gives? I've had her now for almost a month. I would figure that she would still be a tad nervous, but I wonder why she is as shy as she is being?
