My E. carinata are like this, too. I don't have to smell like rodent. If they're in an 'eatin' mood' then they just lay hold. They are *very* docile most of the time, but something sets them off and POW! I could smell like clorox or meat tenderizer or something and they'd still try to eat me. Though, oddly, it's the male I have the most trouble with. If he's in a temper, he comes out like an evil jack-in-the box and once did to my hand exactly what yours did in the picture. For no discernible reason.
The rest of the time -- tame as puppies.
Talk about Jekyll and Hyde. Maybe I should rename them!
