Care for the Chinese king rat snake (Elaphe carinata) is pretty easy and straight forward. We have had great success with keeping them at temps in between 84 to 86 degrees. Ours are very shy and spend most of the time in there hide box. They feed on a steady diet of appropriate size rodents, either rats or mice. Be careful housing them though, they can be cannibalistic if the mood strikes them! They can grow quite a bit larger than what you have mentioned and will need an appropriately sized cage. Ours also tend to soak in the water bowl for extended periods of time. Good luck with your new captive and you may email us for more direct questions as we have the books mentioned below.
