I like those friend of a friend stories! The one where this guy bought this thing from this other guy a long time ago and he, ahh whatever, that story holds about as much water as a fishing net if you ask me.
If somebody did do a cross and got het albino bairds out of it and bred one to a normal bairds and then raised up all the babies and bred the father to them now you're talking about breeding an animal that was maybe only 25% hybrid to an animal that's about 12.5% hybrid. I doubt at that time even a scale count's going to do you a lick of good.
This is just like the LA Pines if you ask me. I love those snakes but at this point you're never even going to know if the animal you're buying is pure. The way I deal with that is the same way I'm going to deal with the albino bairdi, by not buying or working with them at all.
If you want to get in on a bairds project stick with Shannon's pied animals, you've yet to see if it's genetic but at least we know they're pure.
