My rat snake wont eat.

I found a baby rat snake outside. I guess it is a baby: it is about 12in long and skiny. I have a snake case and everything it might need, but it wont eat any pinky mice. Do I need to take it out of the case during feeding? Should I let it go and buy one from a pet store?
