First of all, are you sure you are describing them correctly? At 20" and the diameter of a pencil, they would have the proportions of a vine snake. If that is true, something is very wrong.
I would consider the conditions you are keeping them under as well. While I wouldn't be that concerned at this (most people overfeed snakes in captivity), I would check to make sure you are giving them an appropriate temperature gradient. If you keep them too warm, you increase their metabolism and they might burn food too quickly.
What about their behavior? Are they looking for food all the time or never?
