Actually this mutation is not real new, I remember seeing them as far back as 1997 at the FIRS in Tampa. Gulf Coast Reptiles established the strain from a wild caught animal, I think from somewhere near or outside Fort Myers, Florida. The fading of dorsal color is present in both the whitesided black rats (they are white with greyish) and the glades.
