Thanks so much for the information on Crypto. -- I had not even considered something that serious and I am now aware of the risk to my other snake (an Albino Black Rat Snake -- ABR). Fortunately, my ABR has had no contact directly or indirectly with this red rat snake (RRS) -- when I fed these two last Friday, I fed the ABR first and then the RRS and have not handled the ABR after touching the RRS or anything in its cage.
The link you included was very helpful and I am going to be sure the Vet I take this snake to has at least knowledge and hopefully experience with Crypto.
I still hope this is just a simpler/treatable parasite...Thanks again for the input.
