So you picked up on that getting something off my chest thing. I think the only thing that can really be done is to hold a market price. The trouble seems to come when somebody "needs" the money or the "wife" says they have to go. Or even when they don't sell in the first month you try. I've had snakes I posted one month for $50 and didn't get one hit. Then I post them the next for $75 and I sell out. Let me assure everybody I will never be the first one to go below market price, I just don't have to.
The flavs were a sore spot for me because I was having no trouble at all getting $175-$200 each for mine. Then I saw them posted for $150, then $125, Then $100 and then the straw that broke the mouses back was seeing them for $75 each. That was a slashing of 60% for a snake that isn't produced in any kind of numbers. I just didn't understand that at all. Why would one breeder sell for so much less then all the others? I wouldn't have cared so much but I'd just spent another $2000 on flavs, and that price slashing cost me a good deal of money.
I agree something should be done to protect our investments it just sucks I had to learn that the hard way.
That's of course water under the bridge but what to you think would be a good solution to keep that from happening? There's nothing we can do but watch the market and stay in tune with what's going on. People should get a fair price when they buy, one that reflects the efforst that's gone into the production of the animals. Situla are WAY under priced while others seems to be just about right and yet other a little high.
Don't have all the answers,
Adam Block
PS Thanks for being so big about me being somewhat of a dick. Guess I had a little hard feelings still in there someplace. BAD ME!
